Account and Profile

Creating Your Account

  1. Visit curba.app and click Sign Up
  2. Enter your email address and create a password
  3. Verify your email address
  4. Complete your profile with your first name, last name, and optional phone number

Your Profile

Your profile carries the basic info other users will see in messages and on bookings:

  • Name - Your first and last name (used on inquiries, messages, and reviews)
  • Verification status - Whether you've completed identity verification
  • Reviews - Ratings from past rentals you completed as a host (visible to renters who view your listings)

Public host profile pages are not yet available. When a renter sees your name on a listing they cannot click through to a separate "host profile" page. Reviews of your items appear on the listing detail page itself. We're planning a public host profile in a future release.

Editing Your Profile

  1. Go to Profile
  2. You can update:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Phone Number (optional)
  3. Save your changes

Your email and username cannot be changed after account creation. Your verified legal name (used for payouts and identity verification) is updated separately - see Identity Verification.

Profile Picture

Profile picture upload isn't available yet. It's coming in the next release. Until then, your profile shows your initials.

Individual Accounts Only

Curba currently supports individual accounts only - businesses cannot list items as a registered company today. If you operate a rental business, you can still list items under your personal account. Business accounts (with company name, business tax ID, and group permissions) are planned for a future release.

Identity Verification

To list or rent items on Curba, you must complete identity verification. This helps keep the community safe. See Identity Verification for full details.

Settings

Access your settings from Profile > Settings:

Notification Preferences

Control which notifications you receive:

  • Booking Requests - Get notified when someone sends a rental inquiry
  • Messages - Get notified when you receive a new chat message

My Listings

View and manage all your listings from Profile > My Listings:

  • See all your active, pending, and inactive listings
  • Edit listing details, pricing, and photos
  • Track the status of each listing

Saved Items (Favorites)

Save listings you're interested in so you can come back to them later - useful for shortlisting items before booking, watching for price drops, or just keeping track of gear you might need next month.

Saving a Listing

  • From a listing card (browse page or search results) → tap the heart icon in the top-right corner of the card. The heart fills in to confirm it's saved.
  • From the listing detail page → tap the heart icon next to the title.

You can only favorite listings created by other hosts - you cannot favorite your own listings.

Viewing Your Favorites

  1. Go to Profile > My Listings
  2. Click the Favorites tab

Your favorites are sorted with most recently added first. Each card behaves like any other listing - click to view the full details, send an inquiry, or share with a friend.

Removing a Favorite

Tap the filled heart icon on either the card or the listing detail page to unfavorite. The listing is removed from your Favorites tab immediately.

Notifications

Hosts are not notified when their listing is favorited - favorites are private to you.

If a listing you've favorited is unpublished, deleted, or has its dates blocked, you'll still see it in your Favorites tab but you may not be able to inquire until it's available again.

Booking Dashboard

View all your bookings in one place from the Booking Dashboard:

  • Switch between Renting (items you're renting) and Hosting (items you're lending)
  • See the current status of each booking
  • Take action on bookings (accept, pay, confirm pickup, etc.)

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your Curba account yourself from Profile > Settings > Delete account.

Before you can delete, the following must be true:

  • All active bookings (as renter or host) are completed or canceled
  • All listings you've created are deleted or have no upcoming rentals
  • Any pending host earnings have been withdrawn from your Stripe Connect account

When you confirm deletion:

  • Your account is closed and you can no longer sign in
  • Your reviews and ratings are removed from listings you reviewed
  • Your messages remain in the recipients' message threads but show as from a deleted user
  • Listings you created are removed from search and browse
  • Your identity verification documents (held by Stripe) are retained per Canadian KYC and tax record-keeping laws - typically 7 years

Deletion is not reversible. If you change your mind, you'll need to create a new account from scratch.

Self-serve deletion is being wired up in the next release. Until it ships, the Delete account button will route the request to support, who will process it manually within 1–2 business days. If you need urgent removal, email support@curba.app directly.
