Cancellation Policies
Overview
Every listing on Curba has a cancellation policy chosen by the host. The policy determines what happens if a rental is canceled after payment.
The Three Policies
Flexible
If canceled more than 1 day before the rental start date, 100% of the rental amount is refunded. No cancellation fee is charged.
Best for: Hosts who want to attract more bookings with a low-risk option for renters.
Medium
If canceled more than 1 day before the rental start date, 50% of the rental amount is refunded. A 50% cancellation fee is charged.
Best for: A balanced approach that protects hosts while giving renters some flexibility.
Strict
If canceled more than 1 day before the rental start date, 30% of the rental amount is refunded. A 70% cancellation fee is charged.
Best for: High-value items where hosts need strong commitment from renters.
Late Cancellations
Cancellations made less than 1 day (24 hours) before the rental start date are charged 100% of the rental amount, regardless of the cancellation policy. This protects hosts from last-minute cancellations.
Host-Initiated Cancellations
If the host cancels the booking, the renter is always refunded in full — no cancellation fee is charged to the renter.
How to Cancel a Booking
- Go to the Inquiry Progress page for the booking
- Click Cancel Booking
- Review the cancellation fee (if any)
- Confirm the cancellation
You'll see the exact cancellation fee before confirming, so there are no surprises.
Security Deposits and Cancellations
If a security deposit was held, it is always released in full when a booking is canceled — the deposit hold is never captured on cancellation.
Which Policy Should Hosts Choose?
| If you want... | Choose |
|---|---|
| More bookings, flexible for renters | Flexible |

The cancellation policy is displayed on your listing page so renters can see it before booking.
