How Notifications Work
Curba keeps you informed at every step of the rental process through multiple notification channels.
Notification Channels
In-App Notifications
- A notification bell icon in the app header shows your unread count
- Click the bell to view all your notifications
- Notifications are organized into tabs:
- Bookings — Inquiry and booking status updates
- Updates — Listing and system updates
- Messages — New chat messages
- Each notification shows a timestamp (e.g., "just now", "5m ago", "2h ago")
- Click Mark all as read to clear all unread notifications at once
Email Notifications
You'll receive emails at key moments, including:
- Welcome email — When you complete identity verification
- Inquiry Sent — When you submit a rental request
- Inquiry Accepted — When a host accepts your request
- Listing Created — When you submit a new listing
- Listing Published — When your listing is approved and goes live
Push Notifications
If you've installed Curba as a Progressive Web App (PWA), you may receive push notifications on your device for real-time updates.
Notification Types
| Type | When You'll Receive It |
|---|---|
| Booking Request | A new inquiry is received (hosts) |
| Inquiry Accepted/Declined | Host responds to your inquiry (renters) |
| Payment Confirmed | Renter completes payment |
| Pickup Details Shared | Host shares address and instructions |
| Pickup Confirmed | Renter confirms they have the item |
| Item Returned | Renter marks the item as returned |
| Booking Completed | Host confirms the return |
| New Message | Someone sends you a chat message |
| Listing Update | Your listing status changes |
Notification Preferences
You can control which notifications you receive:
- Go to Profile > Settings
- Under Notification Preferences, toggle:
- Booking Requests — Notifications for new rental inquiries (enabled by default)
- Messages — Notifications for new chat messages (disabled by default)
Tips
- Keep Booking Requests enabled so you never miss an inquiry
- Enable Messages if you want real-time alerts for chat messages
- Check the notification bell regularly for updates on your active rentals
