Reviews and Ratings
How Reviews Work
After a booking is completed, renters can leave a review for the listing. Reviews help other renters make informed decisions and help hosts build their reputation on Curba.
Leaving a Review
- Once a booking reaches the Completed step, a Leave a Review button appears on the Inquiry Progress page
- Click the button to open the review dialog
- Select a rating from 1 to 5 stars
- Write a comment about your experience
- Submit your review
Rating Scale
| Stars | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 1 | Poor experience |
| 2 | Below expectations |
| 3 | Average |
| 4 | Good experience |
| 5 | Excellent experience |
Review Guidelines
- Be honest and specific about your experience
- Mention the item's condition, the host's communication, and the pickup/return process
- Keep your review respectful and constructive
- One review per booking - you cannot edit or delete a review after submission
Where Reviews Appear
- On the listing detail page, visible to all users
- Reviews show the reviewer's name, star rating, comment, and date
- The listing displays an average rating and total review count
Who Can Leave Reviews?
- Only renters can leave reviews after a completed booking
- You can only review a listing you've actually rented
- One review per booking - duplicate reviews are not allowed
Tips for Getting Great Reviews (Hosts)
- Respond to inquiries quickly
- Keep your item in the condition described in your listing
- Communicate clearly about pickup and return details
- Be friendly and professional throughout the rental process
Can Hosts Reply to Reviews?
Not yet. Hosts cannot publicly reply to a review on their listing today. We're planning a host-reply feature in a future release so you can add context, thank renters, or respond to feedback.
In the meantime, the best way to address a review is in the next rental - great service consistently turns into more 5-star reviews over time.
Requesting a Review Removal
Reviews on Curba are deliberately hard to remove. They exist to help renters trust the marketplace, and we don't remove a review just because a host disagrees with it.
That said, you can request removal if a review violates our guidelines. Examples that may qualify:
- Personal attacks or hate speech directed at the host
- Sharing private information (home address, phone number, last name)
- Factual lies that can be disproved with evidence (e.g. claims about a model that wasn't actually in the listing)
- Reviews unrelated to the rental (spam, advertisements, off-topic complaints)
- Coordinated attacks (multiple fake reviews from the same source)
Examples that do not qualify for removal:
- The renter said they didn't like the item, even if you disagree
- The renter rated lower than you think you deserved
- The renter mentioned a real issue you've since fixed
- The reviewer's tone is blunt but factually accurate
How to Request Removal
- Email support@curba.app
- Include the listing URL, the booking ID, and a screenshot of the review
- Explain which guideline the review violates and why
- Provide any evidence (messages, photos, timestamps)
Curba's support team reviews each request manually. Decisions typically take 3–5 business days. If we remove a review, the listing's average rating recalculates automatically.
There is no automated review moderation today. Every removal goes through a manual review by our team.
Editing or Deleting Your Own Review
Reviews are immutable once submitted - you cannot edit or delete a review you wrote. If you made an error or need a review corrected, email support@curba.app with the booking ID and what you'd like changed. The team can remove your review on request, but they cannot edit it.
